Colour theory!

The science of colour is known as colour theory. It is a study about colour psychology. It talks about the emotions elicited by each colour.

Colour is a power which directly influences the soul.

Why is it important to choose the right colour?

People determine whether they like a product in 90 seconds or less, and 90% of that decision is based solely on colour. As a result, picking the right colour for your brand is critical. It also boosts your marketing and sales. The colour you choose should complement the type of business you run. Consider how unusual it is to use green as a primary colour for a company that sells tech products.

Models for colour blending

There are two basic models: RGB (Red, Green, Blue) and CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key or Black).

For digital device screens, we use RGB. RGB is an additive model. You can get different colours by mixing RGB with different intensities.

In printing, we use CMYK. The CMYK model is a subtractive one. We remove light from the paper by adding colours.

Colour Schemes and Colour Wheel

The colour wheel is used by designers to create colour schemes for their designs. The colour wheel can be used in three major ways to create colour schemes.

Complementary Colours: Choosing two opposite colours from the colour wheel to make a complementary colour.

Analogous colours: Pick three colours that are adjacent and use one to dominate, one to support, and one to accent.

Triadic colours: They are made up of three colours on the colour wheel that are evenly spaced from one another.

Is there a temperature to colour?
Colours do have a temperature. Colours like red and orange appear to be warmer, while blue and green appear to be cooler. Cooler colours are associated with calmness and peace, while warmer colours are associated with energy and action.
